Typical Guatemalan Dishes Served Right at La Fonda de La Calle Real Restaurant

Back in November La Fonda de la Calle Real held it’s annual Carrera de Charolas, which was, as always, a smash hit. Now it’s time to discuss why La Fonda de la Calle Real Restaurant is a smash hit as well.

If you’ve spent much time in Guatemala, you’ll know that there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. In Antigua you can get anything from Chinese to Mexican, and finding authentic Guatemalan fare can actually be a little tricky.

The Human Rights Project is Helping Guatemala

I was recently contacted by the Human Rights Project regarding their new mission: “To exceed the act of inspiring and successfully move people from apathy to activism.”

As a firm believer in using what we have to help others, the Guatemala Gringo is encouraging its readers to work together with the Human Rights Project in calling others to action.

To get the ball rolling, the Human Rights Project has developed a beautifully illustrated full color book entitled, The Trouble with the Alphabet, written and illustrated by Caryn West. The book takes you around the world to 26 countries A-Z where children are suffering. Each country featured is also connected to a charitable organization that receives part of the proceeds from Read more

He started several years back with Café No Sé , the choice hangout for surfers, hippies, backpackers, and other random expats and visitors looking for something a little off beat in the city of La Antigua. The café was a smash hit and inspired John to expand his hippie style to the rest of the block.

It’s an Irish pub located in Antigua and quite a local attraction. Not the biggest place, not the cleanest looking place but the drinks are great, the company is wonderful and you are instantly at peace once you walk in the doors.

We were fortunate enough to run into Aiden – an Irish fellow from Read more
