If you are a Jazz fan then mark this Thursday night off on your calendar and make plans to be at the Teatro Municipal in Quetzaltenango.
The opening act starts at 7 pm with the Colegio Miguel Angel Asturias students, which is sure to be an endearing performance. The real show begins, however, at 8 pm, or
sometimes after that, when Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots take the stage.
This world famous blues, R&B and zydeco group comes straight from the heart of music in the US, New Orleans. The program is being put on by the US Embassy in connection with the IGA Jazz Festival.
And don’t worry, if you can’t make it Thursday the 19th in Quetzaltenango, you can catch Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots on the 20th in Panajachel or on the 21st.in Guatemala City at the Teatro Dick Smith IGA. Entrance is free.
Check out Sunpie’s website and myspace page for more information about the shows.
