Michael Artavia – Great Guide to take you Antigua

As a frequent traveler with limited, but improving Spanish skills, I know how frustrating it is to get a “Gringo – Run Around”. Higher prices, the long way to town and just the inability to communicate effectively hinder the learning and exploring service. Just as I tout the amazing skills of Carlos in Panama, I am recommending MICHAEL ARTAVIA (cell 001-502-5915-0212 or office of Explore Centro America (001-502-2334-0006) to be your guide in Guatemala City and for tours. He was superb.

Michael learned his English – self taught- in the Westin Camino Real – and he is very effective. A young man with a wonderful wife and a baby on the way, he is well mannered, on-time and a wealth of information. He understands how to guide but not be intrusive.

We hired Michael to take us to Antigua – about an hour and 20 minutes away – up some very steep hills. His car is pleasant, clean and works well. Once thre , he pointed out some of the more interesting aspects and we then wondered around the city. It was an excellent adventure.

The native music was just excellent and free. You could here it coming from all ends of the city. It is a much more positive way of life than the constant chaos found in the United States.

Great shops and places to eat were everywhere – all very clean and safe. Forget what you heard – it simply is not true.

Some real cool local art, at very attractive prices, is to be found. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. However, you really do need more time to fully enjoy this place…. Antigua is much larger than you would think.
More soon…
